This first ever for-fun-only event, scheduled for Saturday, July 5, is your chance to earn braggin’ rights, win a cool trophy and get some free tickets to America’s Greatest Fourth of July Rodeo – The St. Paul Rodeo. One lucky contestant will walk away with the grand prize: a brand new Traeger Junior Grill!

If you are a wizard of the grill, a sensation with sauces or a king (or queen) of the briquettes, then consider entering the first ever St. Paul Rodeo Great Western BBQ Cook-Off.

We are looking for a cowboy poet of the grill here – the reason why your grilling abilities should be considered the Best in the West! We are looking for creativity, a great team name, and plenty of fun-loving attitude.

Here’s how the cook-off will work. We have 10 spaces (10X10 in size) available for contestants and/or teams that submit the best reason they should be invited to this cook-off-to-be.

Teams can arrive and set up anytime after 12:00 PM (noon). Cooking will commence at 4:30pm and will wrap up at 6:30pm. Celebrity judges will be sampling all entries looking for the Best Sauce and Best Rib.

All meat (ribs) will be provided by the BBQ committee. This event is sponsored by the Oregon Beef Council.

The Grand Prize! A New Traeger Junior Grill!

Here’s what you need to bring:

• Your grill (propane is OK) – just be sure you can get the grill off your truck
• All your own spices and sauces
• Utensils and cooking implements
• Smoking chips are OK or any other secret ingredient you want to use

Rules and Application Submissions

Applications must be received by our committee by June 16th via online form or by printed form faxed to 503-633-2153 (click to download fax submission form). Accepted entries will be notified by phone or email by June 20, 2008.

Remember this contest is for fun only – no cash prizes will be given, but we have a cool trophy, and you’ll get a victory lap inside the Rodeo arena in front of 10,000 people!
