 
Youth Rodeo: Sanctioned by the Northwest Youth Rodeo Association, will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 31st and June 1st at the rodeo arena. Action begins at 11:00 am each day. It's free to the public. Cowboys and cowgirls ages three to thirteen compete in nearly a dozen events divided into three divisions (rough stock, roping events, gaming events) where they can test their skills with others at the same age level at barrel racing, goat tying, pole bending, break away roping, bareback and saddle bronc riding, bull (calf) riding, tie-down roping, and team roping (heading & heeling). Trail Ride: The first Sunday in June (come rain or shine!), the St. Paul Rodeo Royal Court leads 500+/- riders on horseback through the fertile farmlands of the North Willamette Valley as it perpetuates the original kick-off function for the rodeo. The day begins at 7:00 am with a no-host pancake breakfast in the City Hall. The ride leaves town at 10:00 am and winds about the countryside for a couple of hours before returning to the rodeo grounds for a complimentary lunch provided by the Rodeo Association and served in the Tack Room. There is no entry fee for the ride, no charge for parking, and lunch is free! Bring your camera and enjoy the day.
St. Paul Rodeo Kickoff function: Local Jaycees sponsor a kickoff dance with a country/western band, on Saturday, June 28, at the Bull Pen in the city park adjacent to the rodeo arena. Cover charge is $15 per couple. Doors open at 7:00 PM, music starts 9:00 PM.
Carnival/Concessions: Located on the city park site, adjacent to the rodeo arena, the carnival offers new and improved concessions for the amusement and delight of patrons. Numerous food vendors offer a variety of foods. Additional picnic tables have been added at the west end of the park. ATMs are available on the grounds. Chicken Barbecue: St. Paul's Catholic Church sponsors a barbecued chicken dinner. Dinners include a freshly barbecued half chicken, coleslaw, garlic bread and a soft drink and are available at the parish restaurant/stand in the city park. Take-out barbecued chicken for picnickers is available at the city hall downtown.
Fireworks: Each evening is topped off with a spectacular fireworks display following the rodeo performance. This festive display is indicative of the energy and pride exhibited within the community as it celebrates this most patriotic of holidays. Fireworks are set off on the West side of town and can be seen from just about anywhere in town.
Parade: Begins 10:00 AM-July 4. This is a fun and colorful community parade with entries from all over the North Willamette Valley. To encourage participation of our youth, a $50 grand prize is awarded to the best children's (12 years and under) entry. The staging area is on the high school grounds on the north side of town. Registration is from 7:00 am to 8:45 am on July 4 (no pre-registration). Judging begins at 8:45 am and trophies and ribbons are awarded at 9:30 am. The parade through town begins at 10:00 am. St. Paul Jaycee Bull Pen/Dancing: Local Jaycees sponsor the Bull Pen for refreshment and entertainment for the over twenty-one crowd. Beer, wine, soft drinks, and food are available in this covered outdoor pavilion. A country/western band will provide music each night from 8:00 PM 'til midnight: Cover charge at door. The Bull Pen opens each day one hour before the first show.
Tack Room Bar: Located under Section E of the grandstand, the Tack Room offers a full bar to those twenty-one and older. Live TV coverage of rodeo performances allows patrons to see all the excitement. The Tack Room opens each day one hour before the first show.
Miss Rodeo Oregon Pageant: Miss Rodeo Oregon for 2009 will be crowned during the 7:30 PM rodeo performance on July 3. For more information about these events or this competition, please call Director Amber Riesterer at 503-874-1076. |
