About the Event

At the St. Paul Rodeo, we believe everyone should be able to enjoy the fun and tradition of rodeo.
Rodeo For All offers a comfortable, inclusive environment for individuals in the special needs community to experience the excitement of rodeo in a supportive setting.


Event Details

Date: June 30th • 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Check-In: Begins at 9:30 AM
Location: St. Paul Rodeo Arena — Gate D-E (south side)

  • Food: Thanks to generous sponsors you may register for a free Hot Dog Lunch. In addition, St. Paul Booster Club will have a concession stand open with other items (soda, candy, popcorn, etc.) available for purchase. You may also bring your own food and drinks to enjoy.

Q: What is Slack?
A: We can’t fit all the professional rodeo athletes into the Rodeo performances, so they also compete during the daytime, this is called Slack. You will see the timed rodeo events of Steer Wrestling, Tie-down Roping, Team Roping, and Barrel Racing.

Q: Is there a lot of people?
A: In order to meet the needs of all guests, we limit the event to 500 people so everyone can spread out over the Grandstand that holds almost 8,000 people.

Q: Why is it limited to 500 people?
A: Based on surveys and feedback from special need organizations, we limit the registration to ensure that every guest has a good experience.

Q: My loved one needs to walk around, is that OK?
A: Yes, you can walk around, spread out, whatever your loved one needs to be comfortable.

Q: Does our entire family get to come with a loved one with special needs?
A: Yes, please come and enjoy the rodeo together!

Q: I see that DSP Connections is the main sponsor, is it limited to their clients only?
A: No, it is open to everyone!

Q: Is this event for families only?
A: No, this is for all those in the special needs community.

Q: Our group home would like to come, is that OK?
A: Yes, please complete a registration for your entire group.

Q: Do we get to pet the animals?
A: No, the rodeo animals are not friendly. A rider may allow you to pet their horse but always ask the rider first. Walk outside to the SE side of the Arena, where you can see the bulls in the pens. Don’t get too close though!

Q: Is there a Rodeo announcer and how loud is it?
A: Yes, there is a Rodeo announcer who says the contestants name and score. The volume is kept low to meet the needs of all guests. Hearing protection will also be available.

Q: Do we have assigned seats?
A: No, you can sit anywhere in the Grandstands.

Q: Are there bathrooms?
A: Yes, the bathrooms are located under each section of the Grandstands.

Q: Can we bring a camera?
A: Yes, please do the lens may not be over three inches, unless you are credential media. Learn more about media at our Press/Media Center If you have a picture you would like to share, post it on our facebook page, tweet us, or put it on Instagram.

Q: Do we get to meet rodeo people?
A: Yes, we will have Queens, Princesses, Cowboys and Cowgirls coming through the Grandstands. They will make their way to where you are seated. You can take a picture or have them sign your autograph sheet. Our Queen and Princesses look forward to meeting you.

Q: I don’t like hot dogs, is there other food available?
A: No, to avoid crowds we only have one concession stand open. However, you may bring your own food and drinks.

Q: Is there a gluten-free option available?
A: Unfortunately, due to the size of the event, we cannot ensure a gluten-free meal. We encourage you to bring your own food and drinks.

Q: Why are Carnival rides not open?
A: We are trying are best to keep this event limited, and with a low level of stimulation to meet the needs of all guests. The carnival and vendors open to the public at 3 PM. St. Paul Rodeo

Q: How far away is the parking?
A: For this special event, we open parking that is within 1,000 feet of the arena. This special parking is only available for this event. If your loved one is not mobile, please tell the parking attendants. If your loved one is mobile, please let those in our community that are less mobile park closer.

Q: Why do I need to move my car by 2 pm?
A: The parking lot is reorganized for the rodeo personnel with their trucks and trailers. Please move your car across the street to the public parking lot and stay as long as you desire.

Q: Do you have wheelchair parking?
A: Yes, please inform the parking attendants, so we can get you close. The parking lot is sod grass and not paved. If you are having any trouble, please flag a parking attendant for assistance.

Q: Is there a cost to attend?
A: Thanks to generous donors, St. Paul Rodeo for All is free!
